Sony Toshiba Laptop Not Booting up
When you push the power button on your laptop, this makes a circuit and the chipset ( shown below ) sends a message to the bios to to wake the computer up. If your laptop does not even boot to the bios you may have a problem with the chipset. As this chip is moulded onto the motherboard you cannot remove it. Some companies claim to be able to remove it but if you replace this chip often you will have severe problems. This often happens on Sony laptops when customers pick up their laptops with one hand and bend the motherboard. We have tried many companies that claim to do this but none of them has been able to successfully repeat it and at times they may get lucky but in most cases You cannot replace this chip. There are hundreds of chips on a motherboard that can easily be replaced. Integrated circuits diodes zener diodes capacitors resistors transistors fets The list goes on. Even a power manager chip that has 200 pins can be removed from a motherboard but if there's no solder on the chip it is better to replace the motherboard.
Another reason why a laptop may not boot is because of the onboard graphics card shown below. This chip has two sectors it sends one signal for an image to the screen and the other signal to the vga port. If you see a good image when you plug in an external cable to the back of your laptop then you may conclude that the graphics card is working fine ...Wrong !! One sector of the card may be working fine but the other sector is not sending a signal to the screen hence the graphic card needs to be replaced. Again this chip cannot be removed from the motherboard regardless of what some companies may tell you trust me it cant or if it can it cannot be re-seated and work fine.
These are severe boot up problems but are quite common nowadays. Some Toshiba Qosmio onboard graphics problems are very common. We see many of the Quasmio range with this problem often because a customer picks the laptop up with one hand. Also on the small Sony laptops boot up problems arise because the customer treats the laptop like a mobile phone and picks it up with one hand. Hence all laptops should always be picked up with two hands and these problems will be few.
